STUDDED THINGS AND SUCH

Let me start by saying how much I loved Desperately Seeking Susan when it came out. I think I was in 4th grade? I don't think I knew a single girl who wasn't obsessed with Madonna. And those BOOTS she had...
I randomly decided today to look them up and see if I could find them...and right away, there they were on ebay. Click here if you care.
Obviously, everyone else loved these boots, too. They are making many a modern appearance these days. This leads me to my point. I was digging around through my things and found these amazing flat brushed-brass studs I got from a crazy old Russian guy at a junk store in the East Village. If you know the place I'm talking about, you know how incredible it is. Crammed from floor to ceiling with knick-knacks and crap galore. These are the studs. So there are also a ton of studded bags and such, since even Mary-Kate and Ashley want to be punkers these days. Since studs are officially oversaturated in the marketplace, you can find them on pretty much everything these days. Most studded stuff is pretty cheesy, but I often really love things that I think are over-the-top ugly. Here is a random sampling of what I found (the ones I like, that is...)
And I really like the monotone ones - black studs on black leather and white on white. And the allover everywhere small studs.
So this will be the newest of about 50 projects I am working on at the same time. I'm going to make some shit and stud it up like every other DIY person on the internet.
Stay tuned for proof.

AMAZING post! Not sure how I never traced back my studded boot love to this film but nice work dude. I have loved studded shit since I was a very young crust punk. Can't wait to see your project complete.
I have a small one in the works but we just got our dog a new harness (black) and I got these large 1" pyramid studs and we're gonna stud it cause they fit perfectly in a row. Will def post photos when done. So stoked cause she's gonna look like such a killer.

just came across your blog and lurrrrrrv it! so inspiring.

i BEGGED my mom to buy me those boots. i was denied. i wanted them so badly it hurt. i can still remember the pain now.

i was obsessed with all things madonna (as was every young girl) and especially the style in desperately seeking susan. thank you for finding that ad. brought back some great memories.

i've loved studding since i was a teenager (i'm well into my thirties). though it's trendy now, i never grow tired of it. your designs are amazing!
