I'm moving. House and sewing studio. Here's my awesome new workspace: Moving is such a bitch. It makes me crazy. See below photo. One time, I was moving from Oakland to Santa Cruz. My roommate and I had reserved a small truck for our move. We went to pick it up and saw only one truck left in the lot - a very, very big one. The employee informed us that our little truck had accidentally been given away, but that we could have the last truck instead. I was the driver, over Hwy 17 - one of the sketchiest, steepest, curviest roads where people crash all the time. Things were flying around in the back and smashing against the walls the whole drive down, since our stuff filled up only a fraction of the tuck. It's the closest I'll ever be to a big-rig driver. My Mom took this photo. She thought it was so funny that I had to drive it and kept laughing at me, so she got the finger. And got it on film. Thanks to everyone that's emailed me about making things. I'm sorry if I'm flakey at the moment, when I get my new places in order, I'll be back in sewing action again.
Kate Moss smoking with her toes? Anyone know the photographer? And another foot-smoker portrait in my friends house (sorry for the terrible picture of it). Is this a whole genre I didn't know about? I hope so, because I'm pretty into it.
Love or hate? I think it's just a little too much, though I do appreciate the Mad Max aspect of it. And I'm very proud of May Kate for being able to hold her arms up while wearing it. I bet that thing is heavy as a bitch.
Punks love YouTube. There are a million videos on punkifying yourself, like how-to stud your jacket. Momolovesroar's got some nice montages complete with music of other people's jackets and vests. Here's a few photos from them. Pardon the really shitty snapshot quality.
Rainbow!
Bleach and studs.
Oh la la...crop top. I don't know you, but I'm liking the view from here.
One yellow arm with random studs.
Split personality.Contrast white trim. This guy REALLY likes studs.
I saw this sweater on Bleach Black, and since my mind is already on zombies from my last post...this made me think of Freddy Kreuger.
And, Nike makes Freddy Kreuger Dunks! They're part of the Nike SB "Horror Pack" (other shoes are for Jason Voorhees and Dawn of the Dead, wow!). Sweater stripes and blood stains...my favorite part is the sock lining that looks like his scary face.
And this! the "Female Freddy Adult Costume" from Costume Express. "She's your worst nightmare". You can be a naughty Freddy if you want.
Holy Shit! Look what they put on Jak&Jil yesterday. This chick must have seen me on Halloween and been inspired by my zombie outfit. Srsly. I love Halloween and I always dress up. On years when I get too busy ahead of time or am just lame and don't make a new costume, I pull my zombie shreds out of a bag and put them on. After adding blood blisters all over my body, I go to whatever party and make everyone feel really uncomfortable.
Look! I'm one of thousands gettin T-bagged (kinda?) by Babe the Blue Ox in Klamath! Don't be jealous... I can't help but think about the making of the Giant Blue Ox. There must have been someone who sculpted it, and then maybe another someone(s) that put all the parts together. I think it was a bunch of workmen in overalls and hard hats plastering it. Did they do it right there on the side of the road? Or in a warehouse somewhere? Were they laughing while they plastered the balls? Or were they too tough to have fun? Did they all take photos with the balls, too? I think they looked like this,
I found one crappy photo of the construction but it's not of the balls :(
I've watched this movie 50 times. It's sad and emo and inspiring and funny and you should really see it if you haven't yet. I fell in love with Townes Van Zandt when I first saw it and got a whole lot of his music which I've been really into ever since. See the trailer: At the end of the film are some bonus tracks - other musicians singing Townes Van Zandt songs. JT Van Zandt's version of NOTHIN' is one of the most beautiful songs ever. Please watch it. Click HERE to watch since YouTube sucks and I can't put the actual video here.
I'm sort of afraid of pointy shoes normally, but these Underground boots are, WOW. Maybe a little too London rock n' roll to sneak into my normal array of dirty vans and asics, but real nice, nonetheless!
Angel's Camp invasion. The perfect place to do a little line dancin'. My friends know I really like doing the Slap Leather. I learned it during gym class in, maybe 10th grade, when it was raining and we had to stay inside. Everyone else always complained, but I loved it! It's still really fun to do with a bunch of people when you've been drinking a lot. So, if you're out with me and we are having some fun and a lot of whiskey, I might make you learn it. You won't be sad. It was one of those nights.
Making friends with the cowboys. White Hat especially had it down. Drinks, of course. And food. Just like the cattle at the trough.Boot stompin, in formation, ghost hunter peering in from the outside.Going for it.It always leads to this. And this, of course. These girls have it down pretty well, even though I think they're like in junior high and live in Sweden or something. I generally prefer my slap leather a little rowdier, but I really like the little lasso moves they've added. I might have to spice mine up a bit after seeing that.
